SIUE East St. Louis Center for Performing Arts Begins Summer Enrichment Program, June 11

PerformingArts-DanceThe Southern Illinois University Edwardsville East St. Louis Center for the Performing Arts plans to bring Broadway to the Metro East with its summer enrichment program, beginning Monday, June 11. 

Broadway is the theme of the seven-week summer enrichment program. “I am thrilled to do music, dance and theatrical numbers from Broadway,” said Jack Williams, director of the SIUE East St. Louis Center for the Performing Arts. “Our students are going to enjoy learning the performances, and the community will especially like our end of summer performance show.” 

The summer camp is for students ages six-17 and will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, June 11-Friday, July 27 at the East St. Louis Higher Education Campus, 601 James R. Thompson Blvd. in East St. Louis. 

Students will be able to choose from a variety of music classes such as piano, guitar, violin, chimes and African drumming and PerformingArts-Chimessuch dance classes as hip-hop, Dunham Technique, West African dance and jazz, and chorus lessons. 

Lunch will be served daily and several field trips have been planned. 

The cost is $150 per student and $125 for each sibling afterwards. A late fee of $25 per child will be charged after Monday, June 11. Payments must be made in cash or money order only. 

Registration is available online or in person from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at the SIUE East St. Louis Center Director’s Office, 601 James R. Thompson Blvd., Building A, suite 1055.
