In A Midsummer Night’s Dream, residents of Athens mix with fairies from a local forest and end up with comic results. In the city of Theseus, the duke of Athens is to marry Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons, while the comic character, Bottom the Weaver, and his friends, rehearse a play in the woods which they hope to stage for the wedding celebrations. Meanwhile, four young Athenians are in a romantic tangle! Lysander and Demetrius love Hermia. Hermia loves Lysander, and her friend Helena loves Demetrius. Hermia’s father, Egeus, commands Hermia to marry Demetrius, while Theseus supports the father’s position.
All entanglements get resolved in classic Shakespeare style.
The Summer Theater production’s scenic design is by Roger Speidel, costume design is by Maggie Conroy and light design is by Valerie Goldston. Amy Riddle is the stage manager and Elizabeth Hernandez is the assistant stage manager.
