Barb Razer, owner of B&A Respirator Services, LLC has been a client of the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for the Metro East at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) since 2017.
SBDC Director Jo Ann DiMaggio May has assisted and provided Razer with referrals for website design, a list of network connections and helped with registering her LLC.
“Jo Ann has been a valuable source for opportunities, training sessions, proofreading, counseling, research and providing many relevant resources,” Razer said.
DiMaggio May has advised Razer on many aspects of making the company successful and aided in the launch of a new book “OSHA Field Guide: Understand Workplace Safety and Save Money.” Razer and her husband, Chester, owner of Razer Safety and Health, worked on the book together.
The mission of Razer Safety and Health, and B&A Services is to help employers solve problems and save money through safety solutions. The Razers have a special interest in assisting small businesses that do not have access to corporate safety systems. In order to help more employers, Barb and Chester collaborated on the book, which can be downloaded for FREE May 22-26 from Amazon.
The book provides hard-to-find answers to the dizzying array of OSHA questions that plague employers. It answers the questions that keep business owners up at night and provides answers to many questions most haven’t even considered yet. Using his years of field and management experience as a safety expert, Chester designed the book to help employers who would like to know more about their obligations regarding health and safety matters in the workplace, as mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act).
The book can be read chapter by chapter or by “cherry picking” individual chapters of interest and be used as a road map to other documents that deliver greater in-depth coverage of areas of interest. In addition, it provides information about the OSH Act for persons other than employers, who may be interested in how the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) conducts its business.
Barb realized how important respirator protection programs would be with OSHA publishing its final rule setting new workplace permissible exposure limits for respirable crystalline silica. In an effort to help employers better understand and comply with new regulations, B&A Services, LLC was created to assist employers in navigating the regulations. The company is woman-owned and specializes in helping employers with Written Safety Programs, Instant Online Medical Clearances for Respirators, Onsite Qualitative Fit Testing and Training (QLFT), and Onsite Quantitative Fit Testing and Training (QNFT).
