SIUE East St. Louis Center Begins Celebrations with a Gospel Show

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville East St. Louis Center kicked off its East St. Louis birthday celebration last night with a Gospel Show.

A capacity crowd of approximately 250 enjoyed performances by:

• SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School Gospel Choir

Charter School girls

• The Discovery Center for Little Scholars Head Start class

• Anointed Hands Mime Ministry of the New Shining Light Church in Venice

• SIUE Gospel Choir

The celebration will continue tonight with a Tribute to Rhythm and Blues at 7 p.m. The show will spotlight Brock Walker and his Earth, Wind and Fire Tribute Band.

Set for Wednesday, April 9 at 7 p.m. is “And the Verdict is. . . . A Campus Response to the Trayvon Martin Case.” The play will be presented by the SIUE Black Theater Workshop.

All events will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room in Building D at the East St. Louis Higher Education Campus, 601 James R. Thompson Blvd.
