SIUE Participates in Lobby Day

SIUE Student Government representatives traveled on Wednesday, April 2, to Springfield for Lobby Day. Approximately 30 SIUE students traveled to the Capitol where they met SIU President Glenn Poshard, SIUE Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe and students from SIUC.

Lobby Day is an annual event that allows students the opportunity to speak with state legislators and advocate for continued funding of Monetary Award Program (MAP) grants. MAP provides grants, which do not need to be repaid, to Illinois residents who attend approved Illinois colleges and demonstrate financial need.

Lobby Day also provides students with an opportunity to engage in the public process and embody the event’s slogan “be the change.”
