Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis (R, 13th District) visited the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville campus Monday, April 21. Davis toured the School of Pharmacy facilities in University Park.
School of Pharmacy Dean Gireesh Gupchup introduced Davis to Dr. Mark Luer, associate dean of Professional and Student Affairs, and Dr. Lakesha Butler, clinical associate professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. They showed Davis the School’s laboratories, classrooms and study areas.
“We truly appreciate Congressman Davis taking the time to see the innovative initiatives that are happening at the School of Pharmacy,” Gupchup said. “We are grateful for the opportunity to discuss important issues with him and to be a resource for him in the future regarding health care and pharmacy issues.”
Davis took time at the end of the tour to visit with School of Pharmacy faculty, staff and students. He answered questions on a variety of topics including health care, agriculture, the Illinois budget deficit, and the challenges of governing in both Springfield and Washington, D.C.
