The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Business named MBA student Anni Huang, of Maryville, as the recipient of the Enterprise Holdings Student Organization Leader of the Semester Award. She received the award Thursday, April 10 at the Scholarship Luncheon in the Morris University Center Meridian Ballroom.
The scholarship is awarded to student leaders who participate in events, show a willingness to take on responsibility, promote innovative ideas and effectively involve others in the organization.
Huang serves as the president of the International Student Council, International Business Association and Society of Chinese Students. During her undergraduate years at SIUE, she was an active member of Beta Alpha Psi.
Dr. Yuping Zeng, associate professor of management and marketing, nominated Huang for the award. “I believe the efforts that Anni has put into the International Business Association highly qualified her for the Enterprise Holdings Student Organization Leader of the Semester Award,” Zeng said. “Her extensive work to organize events and actively recruit members for the organization went above and beyond what was expected.”
“I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to Enterprise for sponsoring this award, and the School of Business for providing students the opportunity to obtain an excellent education and develop leadership skills,” an appreciative Huang said. “Last but not least, I would like to thank Dr. Yuping Zeng for nominating me.”
Along with her active involvement in student organizations, Huang is also working for the SIUE Illinois Small Business Development Center and SIUE International Trade Center as an international trade assistant.
Huang plans to graduate from the MBA program in August. Her future aspirations include passing the CPA exam, working as a public account and eventually become a buyer for an international corporation.
Also recognized at the Scholarship Luncheon were the faculty advisor and student organization leadership award recipients. Dr. Andrea Hester, associate professor of computer management and information systems, received the faculty advisor award. Beta Alpha Psi, the national honorary accounting society, was the student organization winner.
Enterprise Holdings, a primary supporter of the School of Business, has been sponsoring the Student Organization Leader of the Semester and the Student Organization of the Year Awards since 2006.
