The SIUE women’s basketball team made community service a top priority Saturday, Oct. 18. After playing host to 75 youngsters at the Lil’ Cougar Clinic, the team volunteered at the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome on campus.
In the morning, the Cougars partnered with Alton Memorial Hospital for the Lil’ Cougar Clinic. The 90-minute “mini-camp” provided a clinic of basketball FUNdamentals and opportunities to interact with positive basketball role models as well as promote healthy and nutritious lifestyles.
After the clinic, the team joined the Buddy Walk, providing support for the runners with high fives and cheers as the walk began. Once the walk was completed, the Cougars helped out at a number of kid-friendly stations and aided in the post-race breakdown.
