The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing (SON) is a finalist for the upcoming second annual 2014 St. Louis Regional Chamber Arcus Awards, presented by RubinBrown LLP. Finalists and event sponsors will attend the Arcus Awards Ceremony Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch.
The SIUE SON has been nominated for the Educational Attainment Arcus Award. The award is presented to an entity that is providing leadership through the creation of a program or initiative that promotes college degree attainment, improved educational outcomes or on-the-job training.
“The School of Nursing is honored to be a finalist in the 2014 Arcus Awards,” said Dr. Roberta Harrison, SIUE SON associate professor and assistant dean for undergraduate and alternative programs. “Our new online, accelerated RN to BS program demonstrates our commitment to nurses working in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
“Our goal is to partner with health care systems, hospitals and nurses across the region to offer a well-designed, accessible and affordable option for nurses completing their degree. Our corporate partnership with SSM Health Care is an example of this type of collaboration.”
The Arcus Awards are given to companies that demonstrate exceeding commitment toward advancing the St. Louis region’s economic strength and championing a greater St. Louis. Through their efforts, Arcus Award finalists are admired for making the St. Louis region a better place to live, work and invest.
By creating this event, the St. Louis Regional Chamber hopes to honor and inspire businesses in the St. Louis metropolitan area to become one of the Top 10 U.S. regions in prosperity by 2025.
