Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Assistant Chancellor Paul Pitts today named Kelli Hampton as assistant director of institutional compliance.

Hampton’s responsibilities include updating the institution’s compliance plans and reports including the university’s Affirmative Action Plan; the Women, Disabled Students Faculty, Staff Report; and the VETS 100 Report for the U.S. Department of Labor. She also will investigate complaints of discrimination, monitor personnel activities for compliance purposes, and develop and conduct compliance training for university personnel.

Hampton joins SIUE after serving as manager of employee practices and policies at Graybar Electric Co., in St. Louis. Her responsibilities included designing, writing and implementing comprehensive employment policies and practices. She also oversaw national affirmative action programs and led the company’s diversity initiatives.

“Kelli’s expertise in affirmative action, equal employment opportunity and compliance programs will be a benefit to SIUE,” said Pitts, who manages institutional compliance.

In nearly 10 years at McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., in St. Louis, Hampton rose through the human resources ranks to become manager for compliance and employee programs. During her career, she also worked for the St. Louis office of Wells Fargo Financial Advisors for more than three years and State Farm Insurance Company in Bloomington, Ill., for nearly two years.

Hampton earned a bachelor’s in sociology from Illinois State University in 2000. She earned a master’s in human resources development from Webster University (St. Louis) in 2005.
