Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Prairie Hall Area Council hosted the 17th annual Prairie Hall Haunted House on Thursday, Oct. 25. Under the theme The Prairie Penitentiary, the haunted house spooked more than 600 guests.
A kid-friendly walkthrough was added this year for families. It allowed families to walk through the haunted house with the lights on and participate in games afterward, giving children the opportunity to participate in this Halloween tradition.
Guests were able to get their mugshot taken in front of Prairie Penitentiary props located in the Prairie Hall lobby. Inside the Prairie Hall haunted house, guests were met with spooky props and haunted house workers. The haunted house was filled with eerie jail cells and frightening inmates. Those looking for a haunt were not disappointed with this hair-raising event.
According to Prairie Hall Community Director Christine St. Louis, the event is great for community engagement and continues to grow each year. “The evening was incredibly successful, it would not have been possible without the hard work of our Prairie Area Council members and staff. They spend a lot of time working on this event and were extremely happy its success.”
