“A Servant of Two Masters is a comedy written in 1743. Goldoni originally wrote the play at the request of actor Antonio Sacco, one of the great Truffaldinos in history,” according to Charles Harper, play director and associate professor in the Department of Theater and Dance.

When asked about the particular style of comedy in the play, Harper explained, “Commedia dell’arte is a theatrical form characterized by improvised dialogue and a cast of colorful stock characters that emerged in northern Italy in the 15th Century and rapidly gained popularity throughout Europe.”

Harper’s vision of A Servant of Two Masters promises to be an exciting and very funny version.

SIUE’s Department of Theater and Dance presents four plays and one dance concert during its October through April season. All productions are open to the community at large. The Department of Theater and Dance is part of SIUE’s College of Arts and Sciences.
