Join hundreds of area residents in the Metro East Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Parking Lot A for this one-day signature fundraising event to benefit the American Diabetes Association. The Walk is partially sponsored by SIUE and the SIUE Foundation.

The Metro East Step Out: Simmons Hanly Conroy, a national law firm headquartered in Alton, presents Walk to Stop Diabetes. It begins and ends in Parking Lot A on the SIUE Campus. The 1.5 and 3-mile routes are wide, flat and partially shaded through The Gardens at SIUE, and accommodate strollers and wheelchairs, and is leashed dog friendly.
This family friendly Walk features a Kids Zone with jump house, face painting, musical entertainment, and appearances by Princess Elsa from the move Frozen and Fred Bird, a martial arts demonstration. Grab and go breakfast items and fruit are provided to all participants.
Walkers will have the opportunity to tell their story in the “Why I Walk Video” for possible inclusion on YouTube. Sponsors will share information and giveaways in the vendor area. Health care specialists will provide health information and screenings such as A1c, blood glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and BMI determination. Walgreens will provide complimentary team photos.
