SIUE Ice Hockey Club to Auction Jerseys for Military Appreciation Day

Club Ice Hockey vs University of Illinois 01-24-14The SIUE Ice Hockey Club will be hosting a Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the East Alton Ice Arena. The Cougars entertain the Saint Louis Billikens at 4:15 p.m.

SIUE will wear special camouflage jerseys during the game and afterwards, individuals will be able to acquire the jerseys through a silent auction. A portion of the proceeds from the jersey sales will benefit the USO of Missouri, Inc.

All current and retired military members will receive free admission with their military identification.

Two SIUE Ice Hockey Club alumni, along with former head coach Larry Thatcher, will drop the ceremonial first puck. Jacob Niccum (’10) served four years in the U.S. Army and was a sergeant in the 3rd Infantry Division. Raymond Welsch (’07) has served in the Air Force National Guard for 13 years and is currently a staff sergeant. Thatcher served four years in the United States Navy. The SIUE ROTC Color Guard is scheduled to participate in the pre-game ceremony.

Bush Refrigeration and King Air Conditioning and Heating are the title sponsors.
